What happens after I accept my offer?

Most sellers finish in under an hour of their own time. Here's the whole process, step by step.

1. Self-inspection (about 15 minutes)

We'll text and email you an inspection link. Use your phone to photograph the car's exterior, interior, tires, odometer and software screen. Do it in daylight. A dirty car is fine, but clean off anything that hides scratches.

2. Plug Report

Connect your Tesla (or other EV) account so we can confirm battery health and features like FSD. If you'd rather not connect, send screenshots of your Alerts screen and warranty info instead.

3. Electronic Paperwork (about 15 minutes)

DealNow is our secure paperwork and payment partner. You'll:

  • Verify your ID. Avoid glare on your license; you get three tries.
  • Upload a photo of your title, or a 10-day payoff letter if you have a loan or lease.
  • Sign the Bill of Sale, odometer statement and power of attorney.
  • Connect the bank account where you want to be paid.

4. Vehicle location

Fill out the Vehicle Location form with the pickup address and the contact person for that day. If you have your title, this form also creates your prepaid overnight shipping label.

5. Get paid

We pay you by ACH or wire, depending on your bank.

  • You have the title: Mail it with the prepaid label. We pay you the day it arrives.
  • You have a loan or lease: We pay off your lender directly and send you any equity once the paperwork is signed. See Selling a car with a loan or lease.

6. Pickup (1–10 days)

A transporter will contact you at least 24 hours ahead to set a time. See Things to know about your pickup.

What does "Waiting on buyer" mean in DealNow?

Plug is the buyer, so this status means it's our turn: we're reviewing your documents or signing our part. You don't need to do anything. If it hasn't changed after one business day, text your Plug contact.

Can I keep driving my car?

Yes, until you sign the Bill of Sale. After that, please park it. The mileage on your paperwork has to match the odometer at pickup. See What to do once your vehicle sells.
