When can I cancel my insurance?

After your car is picked up. Keep your insurance until then.

What do I do with my registration?

Take any registration or insurance cards out of the car before pickup. Don't leave them for the driver.

Do I keep my license plates?

It depends on your state. Some states require you to remove your plates before pickup. Your Plug contact will tell you what applies to you. If plates go with the car by mistake, let us know and we'll work with the buyer to return them.

Should I file a release of liability?

Yes, if your state has one. In California, file a Notice of Transfer and Release of Liability (NRL) with the DMV and list Plug as the buyer. Your Plug contact can give you the exact address to use.

Removing the car from your Tesla account

Follow How do I transfer my Tesla app ownership? Also:

• Hand all key cards directly to the driver rather than leaving them in the car.
• Lease or loan: If the app says "removal is not supported," your lender hasn't released the car to Tesla yet. This usually clears within a few days of your account showing a $0 balance.

Can I keep my accessories?

Charging cables, roof racks and similar items: ask your Plug contact before pickup.
